The practice offers many different vaccinations as part of our service under the NHS, including annual Flu and COVID vaccines, RSV, Shingles and Pneumococcal. We will call for patients when eligible for the vaccines we offer, depending on the criteria of each vaccination.

Having a flu vaccination
What you need to know before your vaccination?
You need to:
- Inform your GP if you have ever had a reaction to a flu vaccine
- Do not enter the clinic if you are feeling unwell, have a new persistent cough or if you have lost your sense of smell or taste; go home and call NHS 111
- Inform you GP if you have any allergies
- Wear a top with shorts sleeve
- Arrive on time for your appointment
- Use the hand sanitiser provided
What you need to know following your vaccination?
Like all vaccines, flu vaccinations can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Most reactions are mild or moderate and resolve spontaneously within 1 to 2 days.
Common side effects
- Slightly raised temperature
- Muscle aches
- Sore arm where the needle went in – this is more likely to happen with the vaccine for people aged 65 and over
Tips to reduce discomfort
- Continue to move your arm regularly
- Take a painkiller, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen – some people, including those who are pregnant, should not take ibuprofen unless a doctor recommends it
What should I do in case of any unexpected side effects?
If you get any side effects, talk to your GP or pharmacist. This includes any side effects not listed in this leaflet.
